In the second Study Break I decided to go on a trip down south with some guys. We went all the way down to Albany, to Pemberton, Bunbury, Busselton, Margaret River and then back to Perth. We saw a lot of different things, amazing landscapes, for example the Tingle trees, fed parrots, spend time at the beach, in National Parks and loads more. We stayed two days in Pemberton and went to a sand dune on the next day. We had a four wheel drive but we decided to ask someone to take us to the beach which was 11k’s away from that place.
The topic of the conversation
We met some Aussie guys there and asked them if they could take us. “No worries” was the answer ;) They had three cars and went all the way down from Perth, with family and children. The only “problem” was that we had to go on the loading area on the pick-up. We were four guys and just one could sit in the front next to the driver. After the first sand-dune, which was huge, we changed seats, so that I could sit in the front. I talked to the driver about random stuff, where I was from, what I am doing and asked him the same questions. They offered us beer, and also had a few drinks while driving. It seemed that they just wanted to have fun on the Easter break .
What I learned
I learned that Easter is different here in Western Australia compared to Germany. Lots of people travel, especially down south like we did with family and friends. We met some young people who just wanted to have fun. Even though they were drinking while driving they were very friendly and still good in driving because they had lots of experience with those roads.
Reflection
For me it was an awesome event. I never went to a beach which was so far away and just driving through sand dunes. The coincidence that we met some young Australians who took us to the beach was the highlight of the day. Almost everyone is friendly and helpful and on the way back there were some other people who took us all the way back. It was a great Aussie Easter!!!
